Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Two units of post medieval narrow ridge and furrow are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the east of Lane Coppice, Great Coombe Farm. The spacing between the ridges is 4m so too wide for modern ploughing but much narrower than medieval ridge and furrow. The features are ruler straight and may be the result of 19th century steam ploughing although a 20th century origin is possible. The features were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
