Summary
A possible post medieval extractive pit to the west of Higher Park Farm, Broadwindsor, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s and on the latest Lidar imagery. The site would form one of a string of extractive pits shown as old quarries and chalk pits on the OS 1st Edition map, although this site is not shown. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description
A possible post medieval extractive pit to the west of Higher Park Farm, Broadwindsor, is visible as an earthwork around 65m long on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and on the latest Lidar imagery (2). The site would form one of a string of extractive pits in the vicinity shown as old quarries and chalk pits on the OS 1st Edition map (3), although this site is not shown. The site is showing as partially wooded on an aerial photograph taken in 1947 (1) and wholly wooded on the latest Google Earth imagery (4). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
