Full Description
An extensive area of narrow ridge and furrow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the north and north west of Lower Park Farm (1-2). The spacing between the ridges is 4m so too wide for modern ploughing but much narrower than medieval ridge and furrow; the features may therefore be the result of post medieval cultivation although later 20th century ploughing is possible. The features were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP, they have since been plough-levelled and are no longer visible on recent Google Earth imagery (3).
