Full Description
Bank and ditched field boundaries, forming part of a field system of medieval or later date, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the south east of Harper's Coppice (1). The features are associated with a unit of cultivation marks. The spacing between the ridges is 4m so too wide for modern ploughing but much narrower than medieval ridge and furrow; the features may therefore be the result of post medieval cultivation although later 20th century ploughing is possible. The features have been plough-levelled and no longer visible on recent Google Earth imagery (2). They were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
