Summary
Two units of narrow ridge and furrow to the south and west of Fir Farm, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s. The narrow 4m width suggests a probable post medieval origin, although a late 19th or early 20th century date is possible. The cultivation marks are overlain by the remains of a probable military camp (MDO39016) that was itself out of use by 1947. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description
Two units of narrow ridge and furrow to the south and west of Fir Farm, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1). The narrow 4m width suggests a probable post medieval origin, although a late 19th or early 20th century date is possible. The cultivation marks are overlain by the remains of a probable military camp (MDO39016) that was itself out of use by 1947 (1), indicating a definite pre 1947 origin. The marks are no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
