Full Description
A probable banked and ditched historic field boundary on Lewsdon Hill, Broadwindsor, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and (2). The boundary is slightly curvilinear in form, with a central ditch and a bank either side. It is located at the western end of Lewesdon hillfort (MDO532) and may be associated with it, although a field boundary is the more likely interpretation. The probable boundary is not shown on the OS 1st Edition map but is likely to be post medieval in origin, although an earlier date is possible. The site is still visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
