Summary
An historic banked field boundary to the northwest of Lower Brimley Coombe Farm, Stoke Abbott, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1970s. The earthwork is rectilinear form and indicates probable post medieval sub division of a larger enclosure of possible medieval origin, although an earlier date is possible. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description
An historic banked field boundary to the northwest of Lower Brimley Coombe Farm, Stoke Abbott, is visible as an earthwork on an aerial photograph of 1971 (1), which was part of a particularly good flight for showing up earthworks. The earthwork is rectilinear form and potentially indicates post medieval sub division of a larger enclosure of possible medieval origin, although an earlier date is possible. The earthwork shows faintly on the latest Google Earth imagery 2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
