Summary

A series of hollows and scarps are visible earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 to the north of Racedown. The features are possibly the result of post medieval extraction although a natural origin cannot be ruled out. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

A series of hollows and scarps are visible earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 to the north of Racedown (1). The features are possibly the result of post medieval extraction although a natural origin cannot be ruled out. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP, it is still visible on recent Google Earth imagery (2).
