Full Description

Historic banked and scarped field boundaries to the south of Higher Brimley Coombe Farm, Stoke Abbott, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1). The banked lynchets run along the contour line. The southernmost of these looks particularly substantial and it appears to extend below and beyond a field boundary of possible medieval origin. The site is still partially visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2), although now partly under tree cover. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
