Full Description

A group of barrows and mounds in Seven Barrow Plantation: (2) 'L' - (SY 64769257). A mound, possibly a bowl barrow, 55ft diameter and 4-5ft high. (RCHM No 12i; Grinsell's Bradford Peverell bowl barrow No 14). (3) The area in which these barrows lie is so densely covered with trees and undergrowth that it could only be penetrated in part. Mounds 'D','E','F','G','L', and 'M' appear to be bowl barrows and 'C' a long barrow. An unusual barrow group situated near the crest of a broad south-west spur. The undergrowth which formerly obscured the group and limited investigation has been removed and the north-west half of the area completely cleared of woodland. This part is regularly used as a cattle pen with the consequence that severe damage is incurred by their trampling, especially to the lower monuments. See plan and ground photographs. 'L'. SY 64769255. A bowl barrow 14.5 metres in diameter and 1.6 metres high, with no visible ditch. Barrows surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. Part of the barrows and mounds in Seven Barrow Plantation; 12 in number and they are much overgrown. Possible bowl barrow, 55ft. In diam and 4 to 5ft. High. <1> This barrow was 18 paces in diameter and 4 1/2 feet in height. <2>
