Broad parallel lines of probable post medieval or later drainage across what is now theTwynham School playing fields are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). These were plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project. The site has remained generally open ground as part of the playing fields. The southern part was intermittent plantation by 1945 (1) and this was replaced by some housing and a caravan park by 1957 (2) and the current residential development by 1981 (3). The drainage ditches are still partially visible on current Google Earth imagery (4).
