A curvilinear positive geophysical anomaly (276) was recorded on the edge of a geophysical survey south of Bishops Court Farm during the survey of the route of the Wessex Water Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Transfer Scheme by Stratascan in 2012. Only the western part of this anomaly lay within the survey area. It has a projected diameter of about 16m in diameter and comprised a curvilinear ditch-like anomaly with a terminal to the north east and south west. [1]
This anomaly may be the remains of a ring ditch, possibly a round barrow, as a similar geophysical anomaly (275) was found about 20m to the NW. This was excavated by AC archaeology and shown to be the remains of a ring ditch and probably a ploughed-out Bronze Age round barrow. [2]
