Please read our .

Summary

Excavations in 2011 by the Sandford Heath Heritage Project revealed a gravel spread containing within it deposits of medieval pottery and the base of a hearth. The pottery was mid/late 12th to 13th- century in date and comparable with pottery assemblages from nearby sites, with no high-class imported vessels, suggesting a fairly low status settlement. Post-medieval pottery was also found.
