Full Description

Post medieval drainage channels within fields to the southwest of Merritown are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The features comprise short linear adjoining ditches broadly aligned with the historic field boundaries and draining downslope towards the River Stour to the southwest. The ditched channels are still faintly visible on current Google Earth imagery (2) and were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
