Full Description

(ST 59020692) St Edwold's Church (NR). (1) The parish church of St Edwold was built or re-built in the 15th century and is of local rubble and roofed with stone slates and blue slates. The west porch was added in 1636 at the same time as the bell turret. Above the porch there is a panel inscribed "WP 1636". The windows are of two and three lights and date from the 15th and 16th centuries except for the restored window in the north wall which is modern. (2) This church has been disused for the last 20 years but is still church property. (3,4) The building is deteriorating rapidly and the floor and <> Since the previous field report of 4 11 71 the exterior wall of the church has been stripped of ivy, the interior wall has been re-painted and the floor and ceiling have been repaired. It is still disused. (5) CIVIL PARISH OF STOCKWOOD STOCKWOOD 19/10 B Church of St. Edwold Parish Church, Very small rectangular building of C.15 origin, with C.17 porch and bellcote. (6) St Edwold, the smallest church in Dorset, only 30' by 12'8" and now disused. (7) Church of St Edwold. Now in the care of the Redundant Church Fund. Grade I. (8)
