Full Description

Post medieval extractive pits on Sopley Common are visible on current Lidar imagery (1). The pits are located on the west side of Pithouse Lane, adjacent to the former Hernebridge Railway Station and are shown as gravel pits on the OS 1st Edn map (2). The extractive pits are under tree cover and not visible on current Google Earth imagery. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
