Full Description
Post medieval drainage to the southeast of Tole Cottage, Sopley, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The parallel linear ditches are on two different alignments and divided by two historic ditched field boundaries (see MDO39705), indicating two former historic field enclosures. These may have been associated with a cottage or small-holding shown on the OS 1st Edition map (2) and still extant in the 1940s. The small-holding is ruinous on a 2002 aerial photograph (3).
The features are no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
