A large hollow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 on Verwood Common, Verwood (1). It is considered to be the site of a post medieval extractive pit or quarry and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP. The site has since been destroyed and is now under modern housing (2).
