Full Description
Place names, such as Park Coppice (centred ST 790169) found on the OS 6" map and Park Close found in the Tithe Apportionment, suggest the possibility of a park site. However, there seems to be no documentary reference to a Medieval deer park at Hinton St. Mary and examination of the area has revealed no significant earthworks, so its existence must be doubtful. <1>
Centred ST 79151695 Park Coppice is an area of deciduous woodland banded by a modern field bank. No trace of a park pale, or feature possibly associated with a park, was found and local enquiry as to the derivation of the name 'Park Coppice" proved negative. <2>
