Full Description
A group of barrows and mounds in Seven Barrow Plantation: (2)
A probable grass covered ditchless bowl barrow (not mentioned by Authy 2 or 3), 18.0m diameter and 0.5m minimum height is situated at 'N' - SY 64839250. (Not shown on OS 6" 1903). (4)
An unusual barrow group situated near the crest of a broad south-west spur. The undergrowth which formerly obscured the group and limited investigation has been removed and the north-west half of the area completely cleared of woodland. This part is regularly used as a cattle pen with the consequence that severe damage is incurred by their trampling, especially to the lower monuments. See plan and ground photographs.
'N'. SY 64849249. A round barrow in arable (depicted on the OS 25" 1929), now detectable as a flinty mound 16.0 metres in diameter and 0.2 metres high. Barrows surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. (7)
Probable barrow nearly ploughed out.
