Summary
A historic water meadow to the southeast of Brockington Farm is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery. The water meadow is located between the deserted medieval settlements of Brockington but is probably of post medieval origin, possibly associated with St Giles's House. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
A historic water meadow to the southeast of Brockington Farm is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1-3). The water meadow extends across five small historic fields and covers an area around 830m long by 275m wide and comprises a series of leats and drains. A sluice to the north of the former Charlton Dairy Farm is also visible on 1940s aerial photographs and on current Lidar imagery (1-3).
The water meadow is located between the deserted medieval settlements of Brockington (MDO5543) and Philipston (MDO….). The water meadow is probably of post medieval origin, however: the leats feed into a water system associated with St Giles's House to the northeast.
The earthworks are still visible on a 2005 aerial photograph (4).
The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
