Summary
Five small ditched sub-circular cropmarks at Knowlton are visible on 1995 aerial photographs. The features may represent prehistoric pits, potentially somewhere between Neolithic and Roman in origin. The pits are located among many round barrows and may be associated with them. The feature was mapped by English Heritage's Knowlton Circles Project and digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
SU 0288 1090. Three pits*, of uncertain date, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, and have been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The pits are located among many round barrows (SU 01 SW 200, SU 01 SW 198, SU 01 SW 201), and may be associated with them. <2>
[* Note: The number of pits has subsequently been increased by the Dorset Stour NMP project. Five have been plotted to the HBSMR - QGIS map]
