Summary

A ditched linear feature to the southeast of Hill Wood, Edmonsham, is visible as a cropmark on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature is presumed to represent a historic trackway, probably post medieval in date, although an earlier origin is possible. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A ditched linear feature to the southeast of Hill Wood, Edmonsham, is visible as a cropmark on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The curvilinear feature runs southwest to join a historic trackway leading south from Hill Wood, present on the OS 1st Edition map. It also corresponds with a ditched linear on the opposite side of the trackway, which continues on the same alignment (MDO40289). The feature is presumed to represent a historic trackway, probably post medieval in date, although an earlier origin is possible. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
