A post medieval extractive pit to the west of Wimborne St Giles is visible on 1940s aerial photographs and on current Lidar imagery (1 and 2). The extractive pit is sub-circular in form and measures 41m in diameter. It is also visible as a soilmark on a 1972 aerial photograph (3). The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
