Full Description

Ditched and banked linear features at Purewell, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2). The features divide fields whose boundaries are present on the OS 1st Edition map and on the same alignment. They are considered likely to be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible. Some of the boundaries may be in the form of drainage ditches. Current Google Earth imagery shows that the features now underlie 20th century housing development and are no longer visible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
