Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features in fields to the east of Burton are visible on 1940s aerial photographs and on current Lidar imagery (1-3).
The features are predominantly narrow and rectilinear in form and divide historic enclosures whose regular boundary form suggest probable post medieval enclosure, although an earlier origin for these is possible. In some places the features appear to underlie boundaries present on the OS 1st Edition map and therefore at least late 19th century in date.
The features are considered likely to be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The features are still broadly visible on current Google Earth imagery and were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
