Full Description

A banked curvilinear feature in fields to the east of Burton is visible on current Lidar imagery (1). The slightly curvilinear form of the feature is in contrast to adjacent historic field boundaries (MDO40532), whose more regular form suggest an area of possible post medieval parliamentary enclosure. The feature extends under several boundaries of at least late 19th century date (as indicated on the OS 1st Edition map) and is considered to be a field boundary of earlier, possibly medieval date, although a later origin is also possible. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
