Summary
Ditched and banked linear earthworks on the Avon river floodplain at Christchurch are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are presumed to be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
Ditched and banked linear earthworks on the Avon river floodplain at Christchurch are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features are narrow and rectilinear in form and are presumed to be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The features are partially under the site of a 20th century water works on current Google Earth imagery and only those to the east of the water works are still visible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
