Summary

The feature is presumed to be a historic field boundary of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

A ditched linear earthwork on the Avon river floodplain at Christchurch is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The feature is narrow and rectilinear but slightly irregular in form and is presumed to be a historic field boundary of possible post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible. The feature is still visible on current Google Earth imagery. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
