Full Description
Ditched linear earthworks on the Avon river floodplain at Christchurch are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features cross a number of historic enclosures present on the OS 1st Edition map, crossing between a post medieval gravel pit (MDO) and incorporating part of a historic trackway also prsent on the OS 1st Edition map (2). They are also presumed to be historic trackways of probable post medieval date.
The site is under a 20th century water works on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
