Full Description
A small post medieval extractive pit on the Avon river floodplain at Christchurch is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature is broadly sub-circular and approximately 10m in diameter.
The feature is still visible within the modern water works site on a 2014 aerial photograph (2) but 2017 Google Earth imagery indicates possible loss or damage by this time (3).
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
