Summary
Ditched linear features to the southeast of Holfleet Cottage,Winkton, are visible as cropmarks on 2006 aerial photographs. The features are considered to be historic trackways or possibly part of a drove road of medieval or post medieval origin. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
The cropmarks of a double-ditched linear feature of uncertain date seen on aerial photographs. This feature could be seen extending ENE-WSW between SZ 1671 9582 and SZ 1698 9630 for approximately 560m across parts of three fields. The ditches are approximately 10m-15m apart. The north-western ditch is straight, the south-eastern ditch narrower. <1>

The features comprise two parallel ditched linears, of rectilinear form and around 2m wide and 8.8m apart. The linears run from southwest to northeast across a large modern enclosure shown as two smaller historic enclosures on the OS 1st Edition map. The easternmost linear is broken in places and its northeast end has a more irregular slightly curvilinear form. The features are considered likely to be historic trackways or possibly part of a drove road of medieval or post medieval origin.
