Summary
A modern water tank on the corner of Christchurch Road and Droxford Road, Bournemouth, is visible on 1940's aerial photographs. The feature is presumed to be a wartime water storage facility for use in the case of air raids and incendiary fires. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
A modern water tank on the corner of Christchurch Road and Droxford Road, Bournemouth, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature comprises a hollow square structure 13m wide with 1m wide outer walls. A 1m by 2m rectangular ditched feature is situated within the structure adjacent to its southwest side.
The feature is situated within a grassed plot with perimeter walls to the northwest and southwest. It is presumed to be a wartime water storage facility for use in the case of air raids and incendiary fires. The site was demolished and built over by 1959 (2).
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
