Full Description
The scarps of probable extractive pits on the Avon floodplain to the southwest of Jumpers Common are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise sub-circular and elongated sub-oval scarps following the edge of the floodplain for a length of around 194m.They are presumed to be extractive pits, probably gravel pits, of post medieval date.
The site is within the golf course on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible, although some may be reused as bunkers. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
