Full Description
Banked linear features in fields to the northeast of Stone Farm are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise narrow linear banks of regular form, which sub-divide fields with historic boundaries of curvilinear character and probably medieval in origin. One agled linear corresponds with and contains an area of narrow ridge and furrow (MDO40621).
The features are presumed to be historic field boundaries of possible post medieval date, although an earlier origin is also possible.
The site is within larger ploughed and cropped fields that have seen significant boundary removal on current Google Earth imagery. The features are still visible as cropmarks on 2002 Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
