Full Description
Areas of parallel ridges and ditches in fields to the southeast of Walford Bridge are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise poorly defined areas of parallel ditched linears around 6m from ridge top to ridgetop with 3m wide ditches. The features are very faint and patchy but are considered likely to be historic cultivation marks; possibly medieval ridge and furrow, although a later origin is also possible.
The site is a 20th century school and playing fields on current Google Earth imagery but some features remain visible under the playing field to the north of the school on current Lidar imagery (2). The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
