Summary

A sub-square mound on the west side of Northleigh Road, Colehill, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The date and function of the feature is unknown but a possible interpretation is a post medieval garden or landscape feature. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A sub-square mound on the west side of Northleigh Road, Colehill, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The feature comprises a low banked 42m by 38.8 m mound. The date and function of the feature is unknown but a possible interpretation is a post medieval garden or landscape feature; it is located around 110m to the northeast of Beaucroft. The feature is still visible within open fields but is poorly defined on 2012 Google Earth imagery (2). It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
