Summary

Ditched curvilinear features at Canford Bottom, Colehill, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features cross through a number of historic enclosures present on the OS 1st Edition map, skirting to the south of the heathland on Cannon Hill to the north. They are presumed to be post medieval trackways and were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

Ditched curvilinear features at Canford Bottom, Colehill, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The features cross through a number of historic enclosures present on the OS 1st Edition map, skirting to the south of the heathland on Cannon Hill to the north. They are presumed to be post medieval trackways. The site is still partially within open fields on current Google Earth imagery, although now dissected by the modern A31 road. The features are still partially visible in places. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
