Summary

A shallow depression to the northeast of Spring Hill is visible on current Lidar imagery. The feature is presumed to be a post medieval extractive pit, possibly for gravel extraction. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A shallow depression to the northeast of Spring Hill is visible on current Lidar imagery (1). The shallow depression measures 47m long by 26.7m wide. It appears to occupy a small rise of ground, possibly a small gravel island (1). It is presumed to be a post medieval extractive pit, possibly for gravel extraction. The site is still open ground on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is still visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
