A post medieval extractive pit to the northeast of Stanbridge is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1 and 2).
The feature comprises a shallow sub-circular depression 43.4m in diameter. It is one of a series of five extractive pits (MDOs 40873 to 40877) spread loosely east to west within fields to the northeast of Stanbridge; this being the smallest of these (1).
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
