Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features to the southwest of Wood End are visible on aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise a narrow curvilinear bank and a more rectilinear ditch. Both features extend across and sub-divide sections of an irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map and whose slightly curvilinear boundaries are potentially medieval in origin (2).
The features are considered to be historic field boundaries of possible post medieval date, although either or both could potentially be earlier in origin.
The site is still fields on current Google Earth imagery but with some boundary removal since the 1940s (1). The field is ploughed and cropped and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
