Full Description
Banked curvilinear features to the south of Whitemoor Farm are visible on aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise broad curvilinear banks that curve round in a broken line from southeast to northwest across three irregular historic enclosures recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose curvilinear boundaries suggests predominantly medieval origins (2). The features are broken by two streams feeding into Uddens Water and by two drainage channels also recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, which link into the larger stream courses (2).
The features are considered likely to be historic field boundaries, potentially of post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The site is partly open fields and partly Whitemoor Lakes on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
