Full Description

A post medieval extractive pit to the west of White Sheet Plantation is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The feature is irregular in form and up to 70m long by 60m wide. It is shown as a gravel pit on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The site remains partially open fields on current Google Earth imagery. The feature is faintly visible as a shallow depression; the northern part of the feature is lost under a modern garden hedge boundary. They feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
