Full Description
A line of anti tank cubes on the Leaze, Wimborne Minster, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The features comprise a 60m row of anti tank cubes positioned on the southeast side of the Rectory and running southeast across an open area of ground to meet the back line of houses on King St. A shorter 20m row of anti tank cubes is visible on the northwest side of the Rectory, runnning northwest within the rectory grounds.
The anti tank cubes may be associated with a fenced enclosure to the southwest (MDO41026), which effectively forms a pincer-like defended entrance. The features may be part of a wartime defence line around Wimborne Minster ; additional rows of anti tank cubes are visible on 1940s aerial photographs to the east and southeast (see MDOs 41028 to 41033.)
The site is partially open ground within the Rectory grounds and partially developed as a model village site on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
