Full Description

A cluster of small irregular ditched features in a field to the northeast of Park Farm are visible on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1 and 2). The features comprise a teardrop-shaped depresssion 22m long by 13m wide. In 1946 it is filled with water (1). Adjacent to the northeast and southwest are thre smaller 8m and 10m in diameter hollows visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery; these are shallow and smooth-sided but not water filled in 1946 (1 and 2). The features may be extractive pits or possibly ponds, probably post medieval in date although an earlier origin is possible. The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery but the features are no longer visible; the southwesternmost is the only feature to appear extant on current Lidar imagery (2) . The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
