Full Description
A banked curvilinear feature in fields to the south of Canford Magna are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature sub-divides a historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map whose boundaries include some of sinuous and irregular character that may be medieval in origin; the southwest boundary is straighter and more regular and may be later, possibly post medieval in date (2). The curvilinear form of the feature may also indicate a historic field boundary, possibly of medieval date, although a later origin for this feature is also possible.
The site is a modern factory or works on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
