Summary
Bronze Age bowl barrow, visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. A central pit can be seen on the photographs. In 1952 this monument was reported as 90 feet in diameter with a mound about 4 feet high. It was opened in 1879 by antiquarian Edward Cunnington, who found a skeleton in a large oval grave, with a bronze dagger, and other burials.

Full Description
Bowl barrow, 90ft diameter and 3-4ft high situated north west of Whitfield Farm is Cunningtons No 9 opened in 1879 when a primary inhumation with a bronze knife-dagger was found in an oval grave 6ft deep in the chalk. Other burials, worked flints, etc were also found. <1> <3> <4>
The ploughed bowl barrow, now merging with the surrounding land, measures 34.2 metres in diameter and 1.4 metres high on the lower south-east side. (See ground photograph). Revised at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <5>
A bowl barrow located north-west of Whitfield Farm and immediately south-east of a Neolithic long barrow. The barrow forms part of a dispersed round barrow cemetery associated with the long barrow.<6>
