Summary
Multiple series of ditched linear trackways on Canford Heath are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The majority of these features are presumed to be post medieval in date, although some may be later in origin. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
Multiple series of ditched linear trackways on Canford Heath are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). Where still extant, some features are also visible on current Lidar imagery (2).
The features comprise multiple ditched linears of various lengths that run parallel to each other or at converging angles. Some features link into trackways across the heath recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (3). The majority of these features are presumed to be post medieval in date although some may be later in origin.
Many of features are now under areas of modern housing development on current Google Earth imagery and are no longer visible. Where still open heath some features are still visible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
