Full Description
A small semi-circular banked feature on the south side of Canford Heath is visible on aerial photographs (1).
The feature is 7.5m long by 7.5m wide with a possible small sub-circular internal mound and entrance on its northwest side. It is similar in form to numerous other such features dispersed across Canford and Knighton Heaths and may be a small dugout or weapons pit of early 20th Century military origin, possibly associated with a wider wartime military training area.
The site is under modern road improvements on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
