Summary
Banked and ditched linear and curvilinear features in a field to the northeast of Bear Wood are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are fairly pronounced and may be those of medieval ridge and furrow. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
Banked and ditched linear and curvilinear features in a field to the northeast of Bear Wood are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The features comprise fairly pronounced rows of parallel curvilinear banks around 3m to 4m wide with narrower 1.5m to 2m wide ditches in between. The features are not regular in size or spacing. They are aligned broadly southwest to northeast and have a pronounced curve at their northeast end. The features may be those of medieval ridge and furrow.
The site is still open ground on current Google Earth imagery and the features are still visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
